EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
|
Most of our extracurricular activities have to do
with helping to educate the public to make them
aware, not only of sea turtles, but of all of nature
and actions that we carelessly do that spoil the
environment for us all.
We start the season by participating in Turtle Day at
the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, where
they rehab sea turtles and birds that have been hurt.
A great place to visit if you are in the area.
Not only do we give a weekly presentation at a local time share as part
of the activities they offer their guests, we do "turtle talks" at schools in
our area, traveling as far as Orlando. Marion has given "turtle talks" in
schools in Massachusetts and even in England when she was traveling.
While in the north one
summer Marion even did a
talk in a nursing home for
the residents there. Many
of them enjoyed it and
asked a lot of questions,
others just wanted to know
why there was no bingo
that day.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A VOLUNTEER? hot sun, at times be on the beach for 4 or 5 hours, and want to have an incredible experience, send us an email at: vstsinc@yahoo.com we will send you an application and let you know about the compulsory meetings before the season begins on May 1st. Once you have witnessed your first crawl or your first emergence of hatchlings you will be hooked.
